If you’re experiencing red, swollen and bleeding gums after brushing or flossing, then you’re showing early signs of gum disease or gingivitis. Gingivitis is caused by the buildup of unsightly plaque that if left untreated will cause you to lose your teeth.
Although brushing and flossing are effective in the removal of plaque, they’re other things that you can do to reverse or prevent gum disease that alternative health practitioners recommend.

Kill gum disease causing bacteria with salt
Brushing and flossing alone cannot and will not kill all of the bacteria living on and in-between your gums. One of the best ways to kill them is to use salt. Bacteria do not like salt because it dehydrates them.
For best results, pour a half pound of baking soda and a half pound of salt into an empty gallon jug. Fill the jug to the rim with water, shake thoroughly, and then let it sit. After a while, you should see a thin layer of salt and baking soda that did not dissolve on the bottom of the jug.
You have just concocted a high salt solution, in which each molecule of water is bordered by a molecule of salt. If a layer of salt and baking soda is not present at the bottom of the jug, just add more salt and baking soda until it is present. Before using the solution, add 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide, which will add an even more powerful bacteria killing punch and will help to sterilize the gums.
The best way to use the solution is to fill an oral irrigator such as WaterPik, and then point the tip of the irrigator to every tooth and make a circle around it, then poke the gums gently with the tip. While irrigating, do not swallow the salty concoction.
After each use, add 1 cup of water to the jug. The solution should afford you 10 irrigations, once all is done; you’re going to have to start a new batch.
Using this solution on a daily basis will help to keep the gum disease causing bacteria from getting the upper hand.
Maintain healthy gums with vitamin C
Take 1000 milligrams of vitamin C daily by taking 500 milligrams in the morning and the other 500 in the evening. Vitamin C helps the body to create collagen, which is the cellular foundation of gum tissue.
Boost circulation with coenzyme Q10
Reverse gum disease with this substance. It works by increasing blood circulation and bringing a better oxygen supply to the gums.
